Today's theme is History of Hairstyles.
I've been watching a lot of silent comedies lately, and Buster Keaton's 1926-28 films in particular. One of my favourite things about his films are the costumes. From his massive shoes to his baggy trousers and flat-top hats, they're always perfectly tailored and complement the kind of tricks and tumbling that ensues.
But he's not the only one who always looks good...
The girls always look equisite too. While watching Steamboat Bill Jr. a few days ago, I must have exclaimed, "I love that haircut!" and "I wish I had one of those hats!" about 15 times. Isn't she adorable?
Look at the dress on this girl (I couldn't find a free-to-use version, please don't judge me!):
I wish 1920s style would make a comeback. Tights with seams up the back (or, even better, spray-on with a drawn on seam like during rationing!), bobbed curly hair with hairbands and those little hats, and flapper dresses. You know you want it...
What's your favourite era in fashion?
'Til tomorrow!

P.S. Toy Story 3 is now up!
P.P.S. This is (at long last) post #100 on Synecdoche, Nicola!

I love how ladies used to present themselves back in the day. They always looked so polished and proper. These days people don't make an effort at all :(. I love 60's dresses though. So amazing!
It is a very classy era - I have always wanted to watch a Buster Keaton film and never have! :( I like the 1950's fashions and 1960s a fair bit...though I really should give it some more thought... xxx
Ooooh that's so hard! I love the waves of the 20s though I couldn't pull of the clothes of that era. I also love the hair and clothes from the late 40s to the early 60s (World War II to Mad Men eras) and I like that a lot of clothes today are influenced by shows like Mad Men!
My favorite era in fashion.. hmm... tough one.
The 20s were amazing, but I love the 50s and 60s as well :)
I absolutely adore fashion from the 20s through the 40s. It was so classy! I once wore a flapper inspired dress to band baquet back in high school. Bright red lips. [Fake] diamonds dripping from my wrist. ...And a pair of black combat boots!
