Hello BEDA dears,
Although I'd been planning not to put much personal stuff in my BEDA blogs, I realised I don't have much time for it this week, and since my wrists have been bothering me I'm trying to stay off the computer. My day was filled with watching 30 Rock and reading Francesca Lia Block's book Violet & Claire in one sitting. As I was contemplating the novel and its elements of film and writing, I happened upon this quote:
"Whether they think about it or not, novelists are preserving a tradition of precise, expressive language; a habit of looking past surfaces into interiors; maybe an understanding of private experience and public context as distinct but interpenetrating; maybe mystery, maybe manners. Above all, they are preserving a community of readers and writers, and the way in which members of this community recognise each other is that nothing in this world seems simple to them."
- Jonathan Franzen
So I'll leave this one open for discussion. What is your passion, and what does it mean to you?
